Description
Back in the 1970s there was a photographic collection based in the East End called the Half Moon Collective. They were social documentarians and published a regular magazine called Camera Works. They got completely fed up with the lack of ability to exhibit their work in any traditional galleries and so they started their own mobile exhibition project .
They created sets of images and encapsulated the prints in plastic laminate, then, complete with a guide to hanging and organising the pictures on the wall, they put these print collections into cardboard boxes and sent them off to libraries and universities, and other public organisations all over the country. In this way the collective work got to be shown to a much wider organisation than if they had been indeed shown in regular galleries.
Today the problems is the same. For photographers to have their own exhibition in a Gallery. It is who you know not how good your photos are. Galleries tend to show the same work from the same photographers over and over again, and there is little chance for unseen photographers to break into the Gallery scene.
My project called IMPOSITION, is a modern take on the half Moon travelling exhibitions. It’s an exhibition in the form of a broadsheet newspaper, where the Printer Spreads carry large format images in a way that only live if the paper is taken to pieces and the spreads are stuck on the wall according to an included hanging guide. This creates a wall-based exhibition in the same way that the half Moon galleries laminated pictures did, but in the format much easier to deal with.
It’s called IMPOSITION because this is the printer’s technical word describing how pages are laid out on very large pieces of paper for Printing. It is also a bit of an imposition to send them out unannounced to to libraries and museums all over the country!

1. About UNSEENPRESS
UNSEENPRESS COLLECTIVE C.I.C. is a community-interest company dedicated to supporting photographers and artists in creating and distributing photo-zines, photo-books, photo-posters, and other book-art publications (“Publications”).
We operate as:
A multi-vendor marketplace connecting Vendors with Buyers;
A community platform for collaboration, fellowship, and education;

Return Policy
Our refund and returns policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have passed since your purchase, we can’t offer you a full refund or exchange.
Returns are only accepted for goods that did not arrive, or goods that are damaged during shipping or that do not match their description in the catalogue.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
To initiate a return, please contact the vendor from whom you purchased the item.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, the vendor will send you an email to notify you that they have received your returned item and will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
In case of a dispute between you and your vendor, email us at hello@unseenpress.org and we will arbitrate the dispute.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.
Late or missing refunds
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact your vendor at their email adddress.
Sale items
Only regular-priced items may be refunded. Sale items cannot be refunded.
Exchanges
We only replace items if they are damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email to the vendor from whom you purchased the goods and send your item to their physical address.
Shipping returns
To return your product, you should mail your product to your vendor’s physical address.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
